The Division of Infectious and Tropical Diseases at the University of Brescia and ASST Spedali Civili (Brescia, Italy) is a large 70- bed Unit with specific competence in acute and chronic viral infections (HIV, viral hepatitis), bacterial infections (sepsis, meningitis, hospital infections), tropical medicine, migration medicine and travel medicine. The Division hosts the WHO Collaborating Centre for HIV/TB coinfection and the UNESCO Chair for training of health resources in resource-limited settings The Division is the training place for the residents of the post-graduate Specialty School in Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine of the University of Brescia. The Brescia site has training and research collaborations with African Universities including the University Save (Mozambique), Makerere University (Uganda), and Kwame N’Krumah University of Science and Technology (Ghana).
