Mission

1. Mission Statement

Surveillance of movement of infectious diseases in humans across international borders in order to provide global public health authorities and health care practitioners with actionable information, and contribute to the scientific understanding of epidemiology, risk factors and clinical outcomes of travel- and migration-related health hazards.

2. Objectives

  1. Conduct surveillance among travelers and migrants to:
    1. Track geographic and temporal trends of infectious diseases
    2. Identify emerging, reemerging and novel infectious diseases
    3. Generate an evidence base to guide prediction, prevention and response to travel- and migration-related infections.
  2. Conduct research which refines our understanding of the epidemiology and impact of infectious travel-related illnesses
  3. Communicate and disseminate information and analysis relevant to travel- and migration-related health hazards in a timely manner.
  4. Develop expert guidance on diagnosis and management of travel- and migration-related infectious diseases.
