CHU Saint-Pierre

CHU Saint-Pierre is a public hospital, located in the center of Brussels. It develops numerous activities in the fields of internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, gynecology and obstetrics, etc… It has 3 ICU platforms and an SMUR. Moreover, the emergency service is the most important in the country. The Infectious Diseases Service is characterized by a wide range of ambulatory activities that include:

HIV management (CETIM) – General Infectious Diseases
Travel and Vaccine clinic
The Elisa center for anonymous and free HIV testing
S clinic for sexually transmitted infections
Hospital hygiene
The Highly Transmissible Diseases convention
Tuberculosis convention
The Ebola convention
The department has 30 hospitalization beds, all of which are in individual rooms with isolation and negative pressure. This allows the CHU Saint Pierre to be the conventioned reference center for highly transmissible diseases, multi and extra resistant tuberculosis and Ebola fever. The Infectious Diseases Service provides support to all hospital services in terms of infectious disease advice and antibiotic prescription thanks to a systematic daily tour of the hospitalization units. In addition, the Infectious Diseases Department is a major player in the antibiotic therapy management group (GGA) and works in close collaboration with the hospital hygiene unit. Finally, the department has a long-standing and very important clinical research activity, the most important part of which concerns HIV infection, both in terms of pharmaceutical research and in fields as diverse as immunology, prevention or societal aspects.
