Oceanic-atmospheric interactions play a crucial role in the modulation of monsoon rainfall. This is the first study that directly investigates the relationship of sea surface temperature (SST) variability on the frequency of travel-related dengue identified through sentinel reporting. This analysis uses traveler data from the GeoSentinel global infectious disease surveillance network and the fifth-generation European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts atmospheric reanalysis of the global climate (ERA5) for the period 2007 to 2019.
