Intestinal helminth infections in international travelers – a GeoSentinel analysis 2007-2023

Lead Author: Thomas Weitzel (CHL)

Status: Analyzing Data

To understand the spectrum and frequency of gastrointestinal (including biliary) helminth infections within the GeoSentinel database from 2007 to 2023 while comparing frequency, origin, and clinical characteristics (hospitalization, immune compromise, if any) of infections in travelers vs. migrants. In addition to comparing soil-transmitted vs food-borne helminths regarding their geographical distribution, traveler/migrant frequency and travel-associated factors.
