Zika ex India

Zika ex India

As many of you may be aware, during the last year there have been cases of Zika confirmed in Kerala and Uttar Pradesh, India. We recently had a confirmed case of Zika virus disease in a business traveler to Gujarat, India. This is a novel location for Zika within India (based on available surveillance data). We are writing to make you aware of this and to advise you to seriously consider Zika as a diagnosis in any patient returning from India in addition to dengue and chikungunya. If you have seen any returning travelers from Gujarat with confirmed Zika virus disease, please let us know (by email to David Hamer and copy geosentinel@geosentinel.org).

Best Wishes,
