In follow up to the Dengue (Big island, Hawaii) posting, we received an important comment from Johnnie Yates, Hawaii asking sites and affiliates to be on the alert for dengue in returning athletes who took part in the Ironman World Championship held recently on Big Island. Many athletes stayed on for holiday after the event and may also have had fresh water exposure (leptospirosis risk). Two dengue ex Hawaii cases have been reported in Canada.
