Kathmandu, Nepal has been seeing a rapid rise in the number of dengue cases in the past few weeks. Hundreds of patients have been admitted into hospitals, and the number of cases diagnosed in hospitals has surpassed 1,000 – more than in the previous outbreak in the summer of 2019. See: https://www.nepalitimes.com/banner/as-covid-abates-nepal-sees-dengue-outbreak/ CIWEC Hospital and Travel Medicine Center has also been seeing increasing cases of travelers, expatriates, and locals with dengue fever in the past week. Travelers are advised to bring good quality mosquito repellents from their home country while traveling to Nepal as there is a shortage of good quality repellents and take other personal mosquito control measures. We hope that this outbreak gets better once the weather gets cooler in October.
