Myiasis, tissue infestation by fly larvae, is an important cause of cutaneous disease among international travelers. An ongoing outbreak of New World screwworm (NWS) in previously eradicated areas of Central and North America has renewed urgency around understanding the global epidemiology of travel-associated myiasis and the risk of species importation. GeoSentinel surveillance data (2000–2025) on confirmed myiasis cases was analyzed to describe demographics, travel patterns, symptoms, and the potential for exposure to NWS in endemic and outbreak regions.
