Reaching a consensus on key definitions in human travel-related schistosomiasis: a Delphi study

Lead Author: Dr Federico Gobbi

Status: Ongoing

Terminology in the field of schistosomiasis is often not univocal. This generates misunderstanding and difficulty in interpretation of research data and clinical statements. This project aims to achieve expert consensus on the definition of a number of conditions: “acute/chronic”, “possible/probable/confirmed”, “active/past”, “complicated/uncomplicated” schistosomiasis, using a Delphi methodology. Consensus definitions will be then used for the formulation of PICO questions addressing treatment and follow-up, to support the issue of recommendations for the clinical management of disease.
